~Philip in Samaria~

27.October.2026

Persecution had scattered the church from Jerusalem, and those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the Word. One of them, a man named Philip, walked into a city that was not his own. He was not one of the twelve apostles, yet he did what they did. He was one of the seven chosen in Acts 6 to serve tables.

We’ve identified that the Name of Jesus Christ carries weight because we are known by the One it belongs to. Acts chapter 8 shows what it looks like when everything we have talked about goes out together.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.
Acts 8:5-8

You can see each part of this series in that scene. He preached Christ, and that is the Name. Unclean spirits came out and the lame were healed, and that is authority. And there was great joy in that city, the same joy of the Holy Ghost the Thessalonians had (1 Thessalonians 1:6). That is what His presence leaves behind.

There was also a man in that city named Simon, who had amazed the people with sorcery, and they said of him, “This man is the great power of God.” Simon pointed to himself. Philip pointed to Christ, and the people noticed the difference.

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Acts 8:12

Persecution had moved Philip, not a title or a platform. He went with what he had been given, and the Name carried weight in that city.

I invite you to join me in consideration of the following question. Am I waiting for a bigger title, a better setting or more knowledge before I go, or am I willing to go now with what He has already equipped me with?

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
