Final Thoughts On Your All-Inclusive Departure From “Normal”
Yesterday we looked at the weight of what we have been given. Today is the other half, because the fear of the Lord is also where the blessing is.
That word fear is not meant as a “fear tactic.” In Scripture it means honor and reverence, the kind that produces a relationship with Him, and it is nothing like the trembling of the demons.
The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:9 NKJV
It is clean, and it endures. Then Psalm 34 tells us what comes with it.
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
Psalm 34:9-10 NKJV
No want. That is a promise about His provision, and it is not a test to measure anyone’s circumstances. The same Psalm goes on to say that this fear is lived out, by turning from evil, doing good, and pursuing peace. A few days ago we saw that the same grace that saves us teaches us how to live, and these go together. His blessings and our obedience belong in the same relationship.
Scripture also warns us about the counterfeit.
Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
2 Timothy 3:5 NKJV
A form without the power is what reverence looks like when it is only copied. The real thing is knowing Him, living close to Him, and being unwilling to treat His gifts lightly.
That is the departure from normal, and thank you for walking through these days with me.
I challenge all of us to ask ourselves this question. Is my reverence for Him the real thing, or only the form of it?
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
