~Feels Like Home~

22.September.2026

I walked into the place I live this week and something happened that has not happened once in four years. It felt like home.

I left what I called home for twenty two years, and in the four years since, nothing I lived in ever gave me that feeling, not really. Not the place I moved to first, not anywhere in between. I kept waiting for it, and it never came. Until this week, walking through my own front door after everything else that had happened that day, it finally did.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Psalm 90:1

I do not think I will be in this location for a long time and I don’t think that it is the forever place. And yet it still felt like home, which taught me something I did not expect. Home was never actually about the address. It was about carrying a settled place inside myself into whatever address I happen to be standing in.

For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. Hebrews 13:14

That verse used to sound almost sad to me, like a warning not to get too attached to anywhere. Now I read it differently. We were never meant to plant our sense of peace into four walls and a lease. We were meant to carry it, portable, present wherever we are, because the actual dwelling place was never brick and drywall. It was Him.

Four years I waited for a feeling I could not manufacture no matter how hard I tried to make a place feel right. It finally came, not because I found the perfect apartment, but because I think I finally fought my way to somewhere settled on the inside too.

If you have been waiting for a place to finally feel like home, maybe the address was never the actual issue.

Is your peace tied to a place, or is it tied to Him?

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, you can do that right now. Pray this with me:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have sinned, and I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I ask Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord. Thank You for saving me.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
