Knowing Him Daily

It doesn’t matter when you find today’s post. I choose to believe it’s the exact moment you need it.

Notice the title of today: He Chose You First. That may evoke a lot of emotions inside of you, maybe good ones, maybe not so good ones. But I hope you find in it an answer to whatever question you have going on in your life right now.

Maybe you didn’t feel wanted in your first family, and for that, I’m sorry. Sorry for them that they missed out on the blessing you were meant to be to them. You weren’t cherished and valued the way God intended. Maybe you’re skating through this life feeling insignificant, unvalued, unwanted by people. And for that, I’m sorry that the human race let you down, but without Jesus, that’s all they’re capable of. Perhaps you’ve been part of organizations with the attitude that you’re replaceable, so if you don’t act the way they want, they simply say “next.” And for that, I want to apologize too, because it’s true. Each of us is replaceable. There will always be someone prettier, someone more handsome, someone faster, someone more intelligent, someone stronger, someone funnier, you fill in the blank. But that gives no measure of your true value or your existence in their life at that moment. Your life matters.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬ 

God has an ordained plan for each of our lives. But let me be clear: God is not a puppet master. He knew exactly who He made you to be and what you’re supposed to do, but you have to choose that. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Ephesians 1:4-5

Our last act of free will is choosing Him, choosing salvation, and I’ll give you the opportunity to do exactly that at the end of today’s post if you’ve never done so before. From that point forward, you’ve surrendered so completely you count yourself crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). Every choice you make from that moment on flows from His leading and direction.

Without going into a lot of explanation, our Father knew the moment you would choose Him would come. He didn’t choose it for you, but He knew it was coming, because He’s outside of time. There is no time to Him, only to us here on earth, where everything is measured by it. He knew this day would come, the day you would choose Him for the first time, or choose Him again. And He made provision for it in the sacrifice of His Son.

His Son chose to lay down His deity, if you will, and become fully man. Born as an infant, raised as a child, grown into an adult. He had the same things to learn, walking, talking, reading, writing, making choices. He didn’t have His deity there controlling His every move. He had to make each and every choice Himself, and He made great ones. He made holy ones.

I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father hath taught Me, I speak these things… I always do those things that please Him.

John 8:28-29

He went through everything we’ve had to go through in this life, minus the experiences we go through that are sin. That doesn’t mean He didn’t have to make choices, He did, every day. And one of His final choices was to be beaten beyond recognition, for our healing if we need it, for our health and our blessing in every way. And then He shed His blood so we could be forgiven of every wrong. Our job is simply to stay right with God and choose Him every day.

He chose you first. Now it’s your turn.

Choose you this day whom you will serve… as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15

He chose you first. What is your choice today?

If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, or if you’ve walked away, trying to do life your own way, it’s not too late, He’s calling you back. He’s been waiting. Return to Him today. Surrender your plans, your pain, and your past. He’s ready to restore, renew, and realign you with His divine purpose for you. 

Dear Heavenly Father, 
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank You for saving me.
