Knowing Him Daily

So much of life right now revolves around video games. And when you try to translate what works in a 2-dimensional world into real life, it just doesn’t. There’s no other way to put it, it doesn’t.

In a game, there’s always a reset button. Try again. Load the last save. Mess it up, and you simply start over from where you left off. However, real life doesn’t work that way. There are no “do-overs.” Eternity doesn’t have a second playthrough. You get one life. One shot. No reload, because it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. Hebrews 9:27

That truth of the sacrifice Jesus paid and God’s Word alone should shift how we live every single day. But here’s what it also exposes: this life was never meant to be lived for yourself in the first place. He laid down His life so we could live, and we were bought with a price, which means our lives, body and spirit, belong to Him now (1 Corinthians 6:20).

But that life was never meant to be lived selfishly. It was meant to be lived with a higher purpose. I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live, not I, but Christ living in me, and the life I now live in this flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Here’s what that actually means. You don’t have independent rights of your own anymore. That version of you, the one demanding its own way, protecting its own comfort, living for its own agenda, was crucified. It’s dead. What’s left isn’t your rights. It’s His will for your life, lived through you.

So what rights do you actually have? None outside of Him. But inside the covenant, everything is yours. Health. Freedom. Identity. Position. Authority. All of it, fully purchased, fully given, but never meant to be hoarded for yourself. It was given so you could pour it out, because greater love has no one than this, that someone would lay down their life for their friends. John 15:13

That is what real purpose looks like. Laying yourself down the same way He laid Himself down. Not selfishly guarding what’s yours, but pouring it out for the people around you.

Once you know that, once you truly see what real love and real purpose actually cost, you draw a hard line in the sand and you never look back. You confer no longer with flesh and blood. There’s no more room for hedging, no more going back and forth between what the world offers and what He’s called you to. No more being double-minded.

There’s no reset button. There’s no reload. There’s only forward, fully surrendered, fully His.

Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I have sinned, and I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I ask Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me.
