~Words Carry Weight~

06.August.2026

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your words are never accidental. Even when they slip out and catch you off guard, even when you say, “I didn’t mean that,” the truth is it was already there. It had been brewing in your mind, in your heart, long before it reached your mouth. Every word carries some form of premeditation and so does every action.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭36‬-‭37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Once a word is spoken, it cannot be taken back. It goes out and does something, either bringing life or bringing death, either building someone up or tearing them down. That is why Deuteronomy tells us plainly:

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But there is a beautiful side to this too. A word rightly spoken is not just powerful, it is valuable.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭25‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This same principle applies beyond just what we say. It applies to what we do. Nothing about our lives is truly accidental either. We can choose to live with intention, or we can choose to be careless and reckless. Most people who live carelessly simply lack discipline. Excellence isn’t even a consideration for them. So many people right now are aiming only for the minimum, just enough to get by, just enough to get the job done with the least amount of effort possible.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might. ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings. ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Integrity and excellence, driven from the inside, are supposed to be the norm for a believer, not the exception. What we do, and what we say, are both reflections of our internal dialogue. If your heart is full of carelessness, your words and your work will show it. If your heart is full of intention and integrity, that will show up too.

So guard what you allow to take root inside you, because eventually, it comes out, whether in your words or in your actions. And once it’s out, you cannot call it back.

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, you can do that right now. Pray this with me:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I have sinned, and I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I ask Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
