~What Authority Is~

04.August.2026

I’m not saying I have this all figured out, but I’m having success in my life that I’ve never seen before, and I want to share it as I learn it.

Authority is not the same as power. You can walk in signs and wonders and still not carry real authority, because authority is built on intimacy and relationship with Him. Without that relationship, power becomes disconnected from its source.

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations. ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He gave us authority, but it only functions correctly when it flows through relationship with Him.

Here’s something I’ve been considering lately. God’s Word operates with a kind of mechanical reliability, the same way good code runs the same way every time on a good computer operating system. But if the Logos, the written Word, never becomes part of the fabric of who you are, it stays just words on a page. It never becomes Rhema, the revealed Word alive and active in you. And if you try to run doubt or hesitation on that same good system, you get bad results, not because the Word failed, but because you didn’t receive it fully.

You cannot stand with authority on something you don’t fully believe. The Word has to become so settled in you, so revealed, that no doubt remains.

Faith isn’t seeing and then believing. Faith is believing, and then seeing.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That means you can’t go by anything attached to sight, not your head, not your feelings, not anything in the soulish realm. Sometimes that requires cutting off every other option except what you know to be true. No escape route, no chicken-out gate, only forward. When there’s no room left for compromise, it works.

I remember the first big roller coaster I rode as a kid. Once I got on, there was no backing out, and I rode it all the way through. When I got off, all I wanted to do was ride it again. That’s what happens when you commit fully to what God said. You stand, you don’t retreat, and you come out the other side with real confidence, built not from analyzing it but from actually doing it.

And here’s what makes it all worth it. Seeing the look on someone’s face when they were the recipient waiting for your faith to activate what they needed, that’s not about a reward for you. It’s the knowing that you were chosen by God, and you chose Him back, to meet that need. That’s what authority is for. Not performance, not proving yourself, just loving God and loving people.

If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, you can do that right now. Pray this with me:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I have sinned, and I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again on the third day. I ask Jesus, come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for saving me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
