~Open Hands ~

07.July.2026

We have spent this week taking inventory, of the hierarchy, the stuff, the family, the job, the things we thought we were bringing to the table, and it all lands here, at the posture that makes everything else possible: open hands.

Open hands and surrender are directly tied to each other, because you cannot release what you are gripping and you cannot receive what your closed fists have no room for, and here is the truth that changes everything about how we approach this: God will never pry your fingers open, because He is not a puppeteer, and He does not take control of our lives or direct them without our permission, because He gave us authority and He honors the choice He gave us.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19 Choose. He sets it before us and then He waits, because the choice was always ours to make, and until we surrender and allow Him to do in us and through us what needs to be done, the opening of our hands will not happen, but when we do, it gives Him the authority to direct us internally and in every area of our lives.

And here is why this matters more than we realize: each of us carries a destiny that is uniquely ours, assignments only we were designed to accomplish, and if we never open our hands and surrender, those assignments either fall short or God has to find someone else if someone else is even available. He is not in control of that outcome, He handed us that authority and He honors it, but that makes our choice weightier, not lighter, because a unique calling is tied to each of our lives personally, and someone is waiting on the other side of our surrender.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Psalm 24:1 All of it is already His, which means opening your hands does not cost you anything that was actually yours, it simply puts you in agreement with what has always been true.

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 Not grudgingly or because you were forced. Cheerfully, because when we are in full surrender we do not want anything God does not want, and we want everything He wants, and from that place letting go is not loss, it is alignment.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 Present yourself. Open handed, all of it. That is the whole inventory surrendered in a single posture.

He is waiting, not with force but with patience, because the hands are yours to open.

If you have never surrendered to Jesus or have strayed, it is not too late. He is waiting to restore and renew you. Return to Him today and say this out loud:

Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
