Let me ask you something that might be a little uncomfortable: what do you think you are bringing to God?
Your resources? He owns everything. Your talent? He gave it to you before you ever developed it. Your status, your platform, your connections, your influence? None of it impresses Him and none of it is something He is waiting on you to supply. Everything you could possibly offer came from Him in the first place, which means you are not bringing anything to the table that was not already given to you by Him.
Job understood this in the most devastating possible way: “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave…” Job 1:21 The Lord gave. Everything that existed in Job’s life before the stripping, came from one source. When it was gone the source was still there, which tells you everything about where the value actually lived.
Paul confirms what we already know but rarely consider it long enough: “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” 1 Timothy 6:7 Nothing in. Nothing out. Everything in between is stewardship, not ownership, and stewardship looks very different from ownership when you finally understand the difference.
Jesus m was clear that accumulation was never the point: “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” Luke 12:15 Not in the abundance of things, nor in what you built or earned or inherited or collected. Life consists in something else entirely.
What God is looking for is not your resume, it is your surrender. It is He who works in us, and as we give Him everything we thought we were bringing in humility. He takes what He already deposited in us and does something with it that we could never manufacture on our own, and He receives the glory because it was always provided by Him to begin with.
You did not bring anything, and that is exactly the point.

Can I live without it? Everything you think you cannot live without was His before it was yours.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
