God did not leave us to guess at the order of things, because the order matters, and when we ignore it everything underneath shifts out of place and becomes heavy to carry. 

The hierarchy is simple even when it is not easy: God first, your spouse second if you have one, your immediate family third, your church community fourth, others fifth, and your vocation after that, and every layer of that order was established on purpose because each one requires something different from you and draws from a different source of strength.

Paul makes the spousal responsibility clear: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” Ephesians 5:25 That is not a casual instruction, it is the highest possible standard, and it only works when Jesus is actually first, because you cannot love that way from your own reserves.

And the responsibility to your own household is not optional: “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” 1 Timothy 5:8 Provision here is not only financial, it is covering, presence, priority, and it flows from a person who knows the Word, is intimate with Him and honors it.

The second commandment listed was this: “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Mark 12:31 After God. After your household. Then others, which means you cannot pour out what you have not first received, and you cannot give your neighbor what your own house has already depleted.

Here is what I want to ask you directly, because I heard a word recently is powerful: are you serious about this, or is it just something you are doing? Because God is not looking for participation, He is looking for faithfulness, and there is a difference between showing up and being all in, between going through the motions and actually living it from the inside out.

Accept your calling. Accept the responsibility that comes with it. Get the order right and watch everything else find its proper place underneath it.

Can I live without it? Not in any order that actually works.
