There is a reason the enemy works hardest in the first moments of your day, because he understands something we are still learning, whoever gets your attention first gets your day.
Isaiah describes the kind of ear God is looking for: “He wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.” Isaiah 50:4 Morning by morning. Not occasionally, not when the schedule allows, but with the same faithfulness the sun shows up with, every single day before anything else has a chance to speak first.
David did not wait to see how he felt about it: “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” Psalm 63:1 Early. Thirsting. Before the land of the day had a chance to dry him out.
His mercies are new every morning, which means everything you need for today is already waiting, but it is waiting in His presence, not in your inbox. Lamentations 3:22-23
Before anything else. Every time.
Can I live without it? Not well.
Until God is enough, nothing else will be enough. Just Jesus… by David Leonard.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
