Before the noise started, before the demands of the day started, Jesus slipped away: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35
Solitary. Still. Listening.
If anyone had reason to skip the quiet morning hour it was Him, and He never did, because what happened in that solitary place was not preparation for the day, it was the offering that established it, first fruits of his waking hours laid before the Father before anything else could claim them.
David understood this: Psalm 5:3 Direct and look up, not scroll and look down.
The promise that follows a surrendered morning is not complicated: “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6 Direction flows from acknowledgment, and acknowledgment starts before anything else gets your attention.
Can I live without it? The question answers itself by lunchtime.
Until God is enough, nothing else will be enough. https://youtu.be/N2h9Hm9JZho?is=SG6hvf5AoLCjUz4T
To a very special friend of mine who lives far away, I love you very much, and I hope your birthday today is everything you hoped for.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
