When a king gives his ring to someone, that ring is not a souvenir, it is a seal. Whoever carries it carries his authority. When that person speaks, they speak not as themselves but as an extension of the king. The same respect. The same honor. The same power. Because behind every word is not their authority, it is his.
Jesus gave you His “ring”.
When He died and rose again, He did not leave you as an orphan with a nice memory and good intentions. He transferred His authority to you. “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be the with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”John 14:12-14
Read that again. Not might, not maybe, will.
And then He tells you what to do with it. “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” John 16:23-24
You haven’t done this before. Most believers live their whole lives and never actually step into what they were given. They ask timidly, apologetically, as if they are bothering God. As if they are hoping He might listen. As if the authority was not already transferred, sealed, and waiting to be used.
However, it was.
The question is not whether you have the authority. The question is whether you know it, walk it, and own it. Because there is a difference between having a ring and wearing it. Between holding a seal and using it. Between possessing authority and actually operating in it.
When you pray in His name, you are not praying as you, you are praying as an extension of Him. You are speaking as if He sent you, because He did. You are asking as if you have His backing. Because you do. And the Father responds not to you, He responds to the Name you are using and the authority behind it.
That changes what you ask for. That changes how you ask. That changes what you expect to receive.
Stop apologizing for asking. Stop shrinking back. You were given a ring, now use it.
If you’ve never surrendered to Jesus or have strayed, it’s not too late. He’s waiting to restore and renew you. Return to Him today and say this out loud:
Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
