~Lifespan Reality~

(Bonus Post) There are things we believe not because we studied them, but because we heard them so many times we allowed them to become part of us. We allowed them to be woven into the fabric of who we are, how we think, and what we expect, from life, from God, and from ourselves.

Psalm 90:10 may be one of them.

“The days of our lives are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:10 NKJV

For many of us, this verse settled into our minds and stayed. Seventy years, maybe eighty. And somewhere along the way it stopped being a verse and started being an expectation, a ceiling and part of the framework we built our lives around without ever questioning whether it belonged there.

However ,context changes everything.

Psalm 90 was written by Moses as a lament over a specific generation, the Israelites who had been disobedient in the wilderness. The ones who whined and complained, doubted, and refused to enter no into what God had prepared for them. Their years were cut short not because God designed human life to end at seventy, but because of the consequences of their own unbelief in that specific moment in history.

This was not a covenant. It was a consequence, and it was never meant for us as covenant believers.

Look at the men and women who walked in covenant relationship with God. Abraham lived to 175. Sarah to 127. Isaac to 180. Moses himself, the very man who wrote Psalm 90, lived to 120 years old. “His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.” Deuteronomy 34:7 NKJV

The Abrahamic covenant tells a different story entirely. “Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.”Genesis 24:1 NKJV

Blessed. In all things. That is your covenant and that is my covenant.

So today I want to invite you to look at what you believe about your own life and ask a simple question: is this part of my covenant, or did I absorb it somewhere along the way and never examine it?

You are not under the Mosaic wilderness judgment. You are under the Abrahamic blessing.

“With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:16 NKJV

That is your verse, that is what belongs to you, and it is never too late to receive it.
