It does not really matter which one it was.
Busy feels productive. Distracted feels accidental. But the result is the same. Often, you are unplugged from the only Source that can give you what you actually need, every moment, of every single day. And the longer you stay unplugged the more normal it feels, until one day you cannot quite remember what fully connected even felt like.
This is not a new struggle. It is an ancient one dressed in modern clothes. The enemy has always known that he does not need to destroy you. He just needs to distract you long enough that you disqualify yourself. Keep you busy with good things so you never get to God things. Keep you scrolling, spinning, justifying, managing, and moving until the still small voice gets crowded out by the noise you chose to let in.
And we do choose it. That is the part that stings a little.
“I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). The choice is always on the table. Always. Which means every time you pick up your phone before you pick up your Bible, every time you fill the silence before He gets a chance to speak, every time you justify the distraction with something that sounds reasonable, that is still a choice. A small one maybe, but choices compound.
Here is the question that cuts through everything else: if you are following a voice, and it is not God’s voice, then whose is it? That is not a complicated question. There are not many options. And once you see it clearly you cannot unsee it.
It is time to become singular. One thing. One voice. One Source. Not because life is not busy, but because busy without Him is just noise on a calendar.
Plug back in. Stay plugged in. And the next time distraction comes dressed as a good reason, you will recognize it for what it is.
Choose life. Every time. It is always on the table.
If you’ve never surrendered to Jesus or have strayed, it’s not too late. He’s waiting to restore and renew you. Return to Him today and say this out loud:
Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
