Staying is not the same as standing still.
There is a version of faithful that looks busy and costs nothing. It shows up when it is convenient, engages when it is comfortable, and quietly disappears when the ask gets real. And then there is the kind of faithful that stays. Not because it is easy, but because it has decided. Not because every day feels like a mountaintop, but because the assignment has not changed.
Here is a simple thermometer, not a judgment, just a diagnostic. Three things that I’ve noticed that are directly tied to the condition of a heart: your feet, your mouth, and your money. Where you go, what you say, and what you do with what God gave you. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). He was not just talking about a bank account, but all of it. Time, voice, resources. Where you actually invest those things is where your heart actually lives, not where you say it lives.
The statistics tell a story. Only about 30% of Americans attend church regularly. Of those, only 1 in 20 tithes and gives financially. Roughly 1 in 4 serves in any capacity, which means the people who are fully engaged, feet moving, mouth open, wallet surrendered, represent a very small slice of a very large group of people who would still call themselves believers.
This is not condemnation but realistic and a mirror.
Because we are not in a season where the church can afford spectators. The signs are everywhere. Jesus is coming back, very soon. What we do now is not just about punching a ticket for entrance to heaven. It is preparation. What you are faithful with here is connected to where you will stand and what you will do there. “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much” (Luke 16:10).
So stay. Not in your seat, in your assignment. In the Word. In the giving. In the going. In the telling someone today that Jesus is alive and He is coming back.
One step at a time. And sometimes we’re running.
If you’ve never surrendered to Jesus or have strayed, it’s not too late. He’s waiting to restore and renew you. Return to Him today and say this out loud:
Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
