Before we start what’s next, I would like to talk with you for just a moment.
We just spent seven days hopefully uncovering who you actually are beneath any survival patterns, beneath roles you didn’t choose, beneath the adaptations that served their purpose but have now been named for what they were. That was necessary work, and I hope it was as freeing for you as it has been for me because none of what is coming next works without it. You have to know who you are before you can walk in what you’re called to do.
What you are called to do is not small, is not optional, and it cannot be done in your own strength.
I heard a teaching recently that went straight to my core and I haven’t been able to shake it since. The heart of it was this: we have to take the Word of God at face value. Just believe it. All of it. Not the parts that are comfortable and familiar, not the parts that fit neatly inside the tradition we were raised in, but all of it, including the parts that make the religious bones in your body stand straight up and say absolutely not.
I was there once. I understand that visceral response, I really do, because I was raised in a very traditional religious background. I want to be like Jesus, and the Book of Acts did not close with the apostles. There is no evidence of that anywhere in Scripture, and the power of the Holy Spirit operating within believers was never meant to be a historical footnote.
Here is why this matters right now, and I have been saying this for months: we are at the beginning of the end. The last days are not coming, they are here, and what is described in the early chapters of Revelation and throughout the prophetic books of Scripture, as in the days of Noah, as in the days of Lot, is going to require more than good intentions and a churchgoing habits. It is going to take the full power of the Holy Spirit moving in and through yielded, prepared, Word-saturated believers. I’m talking to myself also!
I do not want to live wimpy. I don’t think you do either.
God will not force Himself on anyone, and I am not here to force anything on you. You have a choice, the same choice I have. I want you to know that you are never forgotten and you were never forsaken, not for one single moment of your story, and the same God who has been faithful through all of it is the same God who is equipping His people right now for what is ahead.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John wrote in John 1:1. We are talking about a Spirit named Jesus before He ever became flesh, and we are also talking about the pages of a Bible not yet written. He came as a man and dwelled among us, and when we receive Him the way to know Him better is to read, to study, to let the Word become the foundation of everything. That is not a suggestion. That is our strength, because He is our strength.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another, and I am so grateful for the people in my life who challenge me and call me higher. If you don’t have those people, it is time to look honestly at your circle. The people closest to you should align with the trajectory of where you want to go and who you want to become, because you will rise or fall together.
Something new is coming on this blog. We are going to dig in, and it is going to be good.
If you’ve never invited Jesus into your heart, today is the day. Pray this:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Help me to live like the beloved that I already am in Christ. Thank you for saving me.
In Jesus name,
Amen
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
