~Guarding the Gate~

12.December.2025

There comes a point in renewing the mind when we must learn not only to change what enters, but to guard what stays. Scripture tells us, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23. The heart and the mind are deeply connected, and whatever gains access to one will shape the other.

This is why guarding our gates matters.

It is not about living fearful or sheltered. It is about living intentional. Thoughts are influenced by what we watch, what we listen to, what we rehearse, and even the spiritual atmosphere around us. “Set your mind on things above” Colossians 3:1-2 is not just a suggestion; it is a protective command.

Some days we notice quickly when our thoughts shift. Other days it sneaks in slowly, through a conversation that drains us, a memory that stings, a song we hear, a scent that takes us back, or a moment that feels heavier than we should allow. A renewed mind is not a mind that never struggles, it is a mind that resets quickly.

Gratitude helps guard the gate more powerfully than we realize. When our thoughts begin to drift, gratitude lifts them. When anxiety tries to creep in, gratitude interrupts it. When the old ways call for attention, gratitude redirects our focus. “Be anxious for nothing… but with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6.

Guarding the gate simply means you are paying attention to what shapes you. You are choosing what aligns with the Truth, and you are refusing what leads you backward. You are learning to protect the progress God is transforming you on the inside you.

If today felt like a sideways day, it is not too late. One honest moment with the Lord resets everything.

Tomorrow we will step into the necessary work of what to do when old memories resurface, and how God restores the very places that once held pain.

If this stirs something in your heart and you’ve never said yes to Jesus, or maybe you have, but you know it’s time to come home, can I pray with you right now? Just whisper, “Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, lead me. I’m Yours.” That’s it. Everything heaven has been waiting to deliver is already yours the moment you ask.

Welcome to the family, beloved. The package is signed, sealed, and on its way.
