~Just Show Up~

09.April.2026

You do not have to have it all together to come to Him. You just come.

That sounds simple and it is, but simple is not the same as easy. Life has a way of convincing us that we need to clean ourselves up first, get our thoughts straight, find the right words, be in the right mood, or carve out the perfect uninterrupted hour before we can really show up for God. And so we wait. And the distance grows. And showing up starts to feel like something we need to “work up” to rather than something we just do.

But here is what Scripture actually says. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8. Not draw near perfectly. Not draw near when you have figured everything out. Just draw near. The movement toward Him is enough to set everything else in motion.

Psalm 145:18 says the Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. In truth. Not in eloquence, not in perfection, but in truth. He is not impressed by polished prayers. He is moved by honest ones. Show up with whatever you actually have, the mess, the questions, the exhaustion, the gratitude, the confusion, all of it, and lay it at His feet. That is truth. That is enough because He is enough.

Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please Him, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Not those who seek Him perfectly. Those who seek Him. The seeking itself is the act of faith. Showing up is the reward.

Think about it this way. When a child runs to their parent they do not stop at the door and rehearse what they are going to say. They just run. They trust that the arms will be open before they even get there. That is exactly the posture God is inviting you into today.

And here is something worth pondering. Showing up is not only about your quiet time with Him, although that matters deeply. It is also about showing up for His body, the church. Research consistently shows that in most congregations roughly 20 percent of the people carry 80 percent of the serving. Twenty percent. If you have been on the sidelines waiting until you feel ready or qualified or gifted enough, this is your invitation. None of it was ever about what you bring intrinsically, it has always been about your willingness and your obedience, and He will do the rest with whatever you place in His hands. So just show up, arms open, heart willing, whatever state you are in, because He is already there and He is not going anywhere.

If you have never heard the reprise of Make Me a Servant with Debbie Kerner and Ernie Retino from the classic kids praise recordings, find it  here today. It is simple, it is warm, and it will do something good in your heart. Let that be your prayer as you close this out. https://youtu.be/zBom8Yx-T-0?si=TckWFg9kTh6_KTil

If you’ve never made Jesus the Lord of your life, or maybe you have, but you know it’s time to come home, can I pray with you right now? Just say, “Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, lead me. I’m Yours.” That’s it. Everything heaven has been waiting to deliver is already yours the moment you ask.

Welcome! You are now a part of the family of God!

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
