We just walked through an entire week together and what a week it was.
The devil made his move, the table was set, the bread was broken and the cup was poured, the sky went dark and the earth shook, the tomb was sealed, and then Sunday morning came and changed everything forever.
That is a lot to carry, even when it’s holy.
So today I want to give all us permission to just exhale. Not every day has to produce something. Not every moment has to be filled with the next thing. Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is sit down, get still, and just be with Him, no agenda, no prayer list, no striving, just you and your Father in the same room together. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8. That is not a complicated invitation, it is simply a promise.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10. We read that on Saturday in the context of waiting, but it belongs here too, on the other side of resurrection, on the morning after everything, so just be still and just know Him. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. Not with a perfect prayer, not with the right words, just with a heart that is turned toward Him.
When you sit with Him today, let the weight of this week settle over you. The price that was paid, the suffering that was chosen, the love that drove every single step of it, that deserves our awe. And out of that awe, not obligation, not performance, but genuine reverence, grows a commitment to carry what He left us with. His Great Commission was not a suggestion, but the heartbeat of everything He did.
If you find yourself at a loss for words today, that is perfectly fine, because He knows, He sees, and He is not waiting for your next performance or your next breakthrough prayer. He is simply glad you are there.
If you have never heard Chris Tomlin’s “I Stand in Awe” featuring Nicole Serrano, today is the day. Let it be the soundtrack that brings peace to your quiet time with Him. https://youtu.be/xQ7L5wN6Rfs?si=5WdYpC6YzqJi5HEq
Sit with that for a little while today.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
