~Speaking the Word~

25.March.2026

Words matter. I think we know that, but I am not sure we always believe it. God did though, He spoke the world into existence and never really stopped. When He gave us His Word, He wasn’t dropping off a history book. He was handing us something alive, something with teeth, something that works even when we don’t feel like it’s working.

Isaiah 55:11 says, “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” I love that. And if the word void throws you off a little, you are not alone. We don’t really talk that way anymore. What it means is simply this, it does not come back empty. It does not return to God having accomplished nothing. When His Word goes out, it lands.  It takes root. It does what it was sent to do, even when we cannot see it happening, even when the silence makes us wonder if anyone is listening at all. That scripture you whispered through tears last night, that verse you spoke out loud in your car on the way to work this morning, it did not fall to the ground. It went somewhere. It is doing something. God’s Word always does.

Hebrews 4:12 calls it living and powerful. Living, not was living nor used to be powerful. Right now, today, in your child’s life, whether they are reading it or not, whether they want anything to do with it or not, you carry it, you speak it and it goes where you send it.

Psalm 107:20 says He “sent His word and healed them.” Sent it. That is not passive. That is intentional and directional. Every time you open your mouth and declare scripture over your child you are not just hoping for the best. You are partnering with something God is already doing.

Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing. Your child may not be sitting in church right now, but they can get a text, or find a note on the counter. They are not beyond the reach of your voice, even in a prayer when they don’t know you’re praying. His Word goes forth and accomplishes what it was sent to do.

Speak the Word anyway. You are not just a parent. You are the voice of authority in your child’s life, and what is in your mouth is alive.

Speak it.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
