~Make Heaven First~

21.February.2026

Let me ask you something that might feel a little uncomfortable.

If you woke up tomorrow and found out you had less than one year left, not to live necessarily, but one year until you stood before the Lord and gave account, what would you change today?

I’ve been sitting with that question, and I want to be honest with you. Not long ago, my number one answer would have been evangelism, reaching people, fulfilling the Great Commission with everything I had. And that’s not a wrong answer. But the Holy Spirit quietly corrected me, and when He does that, you pay attention.

He reminded me of something we all know but rarely apply to our spiritual lives. When you’re on a plane and the cabin loses pressure, the instruction is always the same, apply your own oxygen mask before assisting anyone else. Not because you don’t care about the person next to you. Because you can’t help them if you’re already unconscious.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33, NKJV “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Philippians 2:12, NKJV “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” 1 Timothy 4:16, NKJV

You cannot give what you don’t have. You cannot lead someone to a depth you’ve never been to yourself.

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3, NKJV

Not serve You. Not work for You. Know You.

That’s the foundation. That’s goal number one. Not because God is keeping score, but because everything else, every assignment, every covenant promise, every answered prayer, flows from that place of intimacy. You can’t draw from a well you haven’t dug. You can’t walk in what He’s given you if you don’t know the One who gave it.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33, NKJV

That word first isn’t decorative. It’s directional.

I spent years being busy for God. Serving, showing up, doing the things. And I want to be clear, God was faithful even through my disobedience, even through the seasons I was more religious than relational. If He can work through that rebellion, He can work through your stuff. But I also know what I missed in those years. The closeness. The knowing. The moment-by-moment awareness of His presence that changes how you walk through a room, how you respond when things go sideways, how you hear His voice before the fog even rolls in.

David understood this. In the middle of being hunted, running for his life, leading an army, and carrying a kingdom on his shoulders, he wrote, “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4, NKJV

One thing. Not ten things. Not a spiritual to-do list. One thing, to know Him, to be near Him, to stay in His presence above everything else. This is the foundation and why I began this blog. That’s where we start this week. Not with strategy, not with a plan, not even with your calling. We start here, with this: quality time alone with the Father, that I may know Him. Not the five-minute check-in before your feet hit the floor. Not the prayer you say in the car on the way to work. I mean the kind of time where you sit down, close the door, and say, I’m not here to ask You for anything today. I just want to know You.

That kind of intimacy is what makes everything else sustainable. It’s what keeps your faith from burning out. It’s what separates the ones who finish from the ones who fade.

If you knew you had one year, would you spend more time in His presence?

Then spend it now. :::Tick tock::: The clock is already running. Surrender it all to Him.

Lord ~ I confess that I’ve let so many things crowd out the most important one. Today I choose to put You first, not out of duty, not out of fear, but because I want to know You. Really know You. Draw me deeper. Teach me to be still in Your presence. Let everything else find its right place underneath that.
In Jesus’ name, Amen

If you’ve never made that decision to know Him personally, it’s simpler than you think. Simply say, “Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, lead me. I’m Yours.” That’s it. Everything heaven has been waiting to deliver is already yours the moment you ask.

Welcome! You are now a part of the family of God!

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
