31.December.2025 – New Year Eve
Before we begin, let us once again agree with this holy confession of the heart:
“If God can’t take me there, may I never go.
If God can’t give it to me, may I never have it.
If God can’t do it, let it remain undone.”
God is not on our calendar. He is not moved by dates, seasons, or the turning of a page. He never changes.
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NLT
““I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.” Malachi 3:6 NLT
New Year’s Eve does not change God, but it can change us, because change happens when we choose.
Jesus Himself modeled this for us. Scripture tells us, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, as was His custom (Luke 4:16). Jesus lived with holy habits. He lived with disciplines that reflected His intimacy with the Father and His lifestyle of holiness.
So while God is not bound by our calendar, we can use this moment to our advantage.
We are in a real spiritual battle. Scripture tells us that after Jesus resisted the devil in the wilderness, the devil left Him until an opportune time (Luke 4:13). Why would we expect anything different? Spiritual warfare is not shouting words and moving on. It is standing. And after standing, standing still.
We remind the enemy that he is already defeated. He has no authority over our future. God has already given us a way of escape in every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). We are not meant to live trapped in a cycle of up and down, high and low, waiting for the next emotional swing. God intends us to live from victory to victory and strength to strength.
“They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.”
Psalms 84:7 NKJV
We have authority over the enemy on every day of the year, not just January 1.
Habits are how your soul remembers what your soul forgot.
We have the opportunity to make this year different, not because it is a new year, but because we want something different. We want to honor God. We want our lives to reflect the life of Jesus with holiness.
All feelings are real, but not all feelings are true.
Breakthrough is something we commit to and then walk out daily. Conflict is not a sign of failure. It is a signal to stand firm. This is where the strength built in our secret place carries us through.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
II Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
II Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise;”
I Corinthians 1:27 NKJV
This is where we wake up each day knowing we are in covenant with a God who loves us tenderly and leads us faithfully. We live intentionally.
And one of the most powerful disciplines we can choose is gratitude.
Scripture tells us that Israel set up twelve memorial stones as a testimony of God’s faithfulness (Joshua 4). Terri Savelle Foy recently shared a beautiful thought, imagine each stone as a month of the year. What if we took a notebook and wrote down each month and recorded something we can thank God for in every one of them?
It may require going back through calendars and photos. But God loves gratitude. He honors it. Maybe you already journal at night. Maybe your gratitude looks like falling into bed and whispering, thank You God for this day, for Your protection, for Your favor, and for Your kindness.
When we establish habits that honor God and promote holiness, we do not live from emotion, we live from obedience. And in time, our emotions will follow, bringing peace and joy in their wake.
So tonight, we close out this year in honor and in gratitude.

Our path and our destiny were established from the foundation of the earth, and we carry the responsibility of choosing them day by day.
Disciplines drive destiny.
