At the core of Christianity is a relational God, One who doesn’t need us, yet passionately wants us. Scripture is clear that God is completely self sufficient. He lacks nothing and depends on no one. Acts 17:25 says, “Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.” The world and everything in it already belongs to Him—“If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is Mine, and all its fullness” Psalm 50:12. God did not create humanity out of loneliness or deficiency. He is eternally complete in Himself.
Yet the beauty of the gospel rests in this truth, though God needs nothing from us, He deeply desires relationship with us. This desire flows from His nature as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in perfect and eternal love. Out of that overflowing love, He chooses to invite us in. From walking with Adam and Eve in the garden to standing at the door of our hearts today, Behold, I stand at the door and knock Revelation 3:20, God’s pursuit has always been both relentless and tender. He delights in us, The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save. He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing Zephaniah 3:17. He gave His Son not out of obligation, but because He longs for us to know Him and be known by Him.
Our vision for life must flow straight from intimacy with Him, the One true God. No more charging forward with our own plans and expecting Him to catch up or bless our plans. We follow His lead, staying close so we hear Him clearly. Anything less is just noise.
When we stay close to Him in that intimate relationship, He begins to birth vision in our hearts, dreams and callings that are often far bigger than anything we could conjure on our own. If the vision feels impossible, that is actually a good sign. God sized visions are meant to be beyond our capacity, because He never intended for us to fulfill them in our own strength. He places the dream within us, then works through us to bring it to pass. So we do not approach the impossible with caution or fear, we approach it with faith and surrender. The same God who authors the vision is the One who will complete it. And when the impossible becomes reality, all the glory belongs to Him.
As we remain in closeness with Him, something beautiful begins to happen. Love does not remain contained. It moves. It loosens our grip. It opens our hands. What God pours into our hearts is never meant to stop with us.

Tomorrow we will consider what naturally flows out of intimacy, not striving, not pressure, but the freedom of giving more freely. We will ask what can be released, what can be trusted back into God’s hands (everything), and how making room can invite His movement in new and beautiful ways.
Today, simply stay close. While He is in us, we sometimes forget. Let His love come into the deep and possibly hidden places of your heart. Let it soften what has been tight. Let it remind you that you are wanted, cherished, and held.
From this place, everything else will unfold.
