Some obedience is measured in moments while Simeon’s was measured over decades. His story is not about speed or visibility, but about faithfulness over time. He teaches us the beauty of waiting without growing weary, of believing without needing proof, of trusting God even when the promise seems delayed.“But as for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.” 2 Thessalonians 3:13
Scripture tells us that Simeon was “just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him” Luke 2:25. Waiting did not weaken him, it refined him. His hope did not fade with time, it deepened. Simeon stayed attentive, sensitive to the Spirit, grounded in expectation.
God had promised Simeon that he would not see death before he had seen the Messiah. And on an ordinary day, led by the Spirit, Simeon walked into the temple and held the fulfillment of that promise in his arms. “Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God,” Luke 2:28. The wait ended, but the worship remained.
Simeon reminds us that God is never late. He arrives at the appointed time, in the appointed way. Long obedience in the same direction forms something holy in us. It steadies our faith. It purifies our motives. It teaches us to recognize God when He comes in ways we did not expect.
Perhaps you are in a season of waiting. Waiting for family members salvation. Waiting for restoration. Waiting for clarity. Simeon’s story encourages us to keep showing up, keep listening, keep believing. God honors a heart that remains faithful across the years.
Today, ask yourself: Where am I being invited to trust God for the long haul? Where is He asking me to remain steady, even when the promise feels distant?
Rest tonight knowing that your waiting is not wasted. Tomorrow, we turn to Anna, a woman whose life was marked by worship, devotion, and expectancy, and whose faith reminds us that worship itself prepares the way.

If this stirs something in your heart and you’ve never said yes to Jesus, or maybe you have, but you know it’s time to come home, can I pray with you right now? Just whisper, “Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, lead me. I’m Yours.” That’s it. Everything heaven has been waiting to deliver is already yours the moment you ask.
Congratulations on the best decision you have ever made. Welcome! You are now a part of the family of God!
