~When the Walls Speak~

06.December.2025

There are places in every heart we would rather not look at, places where feelings were stuffed down, hurts were pressed into corners, and pains were tucked behind a smile. They sit there quietly, not truly gone, only hidden. But the Word reminds us that nothing hidden stays hidden forever. “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light” (Luke 8:17). And whether we welcome the light or resist it, the truth always rises.

This became so real to me while helping a friend with a painting project. At first the work seemed simple, just smoothing out patched spots and giving the wall a fresh face. One area had minor damage and was easily repairable, even with my limited skills. But then we found another section, one that looked fine from a distance but revealed something dark when we got close. A substance buried beneath layers of texture, something that looked like what I could only describe as “cancer” in the wall. It was unsettling. We immediately stopped. We could not keep painting over something we did not understand.

And isn’t that just like the soul?

We can keep brushing over old wounds and calling it healing, layering new activity over ancient pain, painting over rejection with busyness or over fear with performance. But hidden things do not stay hidden. They rot. They seep. They show up in comments, attitudes, sharpness, distance, self-protection, or reactions we later regret. They leak through the surface of our lives until the Holy Spirit gently says, “Stop painting. Let Me reveal what is beneath.”

We are not called to sand our souls down by our own effort. We are called to bring everything into His light. “For the light makes everything visible” Ephesians 5:14 NLT. And the way God restores is not by ignoring the damage, but by replacing it with truth, cleansing, and the washing of His Word. “That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” (Ephesians 5:26).

We cannot allow old lies, old labels, old wounds, or old comments spoken over us to remain beneath the surface if He is truly first in our lives. Those buried things produce fruit we never intended. Harshness. Withdrawal. Fear. Distrust. Jealousy. Quick tempers. Self-doubt. Actions unbecoming to a Believer. Not because we are bad, but because something hidden went unhealed.

I have recently watched healing modeled in the most beautiful way. I spent a couple of weeks with a young woman who had overcome deep darkness, trauma, and wounds most people would never imagine surviving. And do you know how she walked out of it? She talked to herself. She spoke the Word aloud all day long under her breath. She muted the lies by replacing them with truth. She spoke positive affirmations rooted in Scripture, the kind that rewire identity and restore faith. And she prayed in the Holy Ghost, letting the Spirit build her up from the inside out. It was not forceful. It was steady. It was faith in motion. She whispered these truths, the Word and her affirmations, gently to herself even in my presence, utterly unashamed to collect and receive her restoration and healing — and it worked.

Her life reminded me that none of us can afford to “paint over” things God is calling into the light. Healing begins when honesty begins. Restoration begins when the Word begins. Freedom begins when the Holy Spirit is given full access to the places we once buried.

December is a beautiful month for many reasons, but perhaps one of the greatest is this: God is inviting us to end the year lighter than we began it, cleaner, clearer, softer, stronger, and fully known by Him. “I never knew you; depart from Me.”(Matthew 7:23)

Let Him bring the hidden places into the light. He will not shame you. He will heal you.

And you will finish this year walking freer than you imagined.

If this stirs something in your heart and you’ve never said yes to Jesus, or maybe you have, but you know it’s time to come home, can I pray with you right now? Just whisper, “Jesus, I need You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life, forgive me, lead me. I’m Yours.” That’s it. Everything heaven has been waiting to deliver is already yours the moment you ask.

Welcome to the family, beloved. The package is signed, sealed, and on its way.

Here is a link to a minister and a ministry I deeply trust. If you make this decision for Christ, they will gladly send you a discipleship packet and help you take your first steps in building a healthy, steady walk with God. They will not badger you or chase you down. They are simply there to support you, encourage you, and guide you. He is a trusted friend, a solid teacher, and someone who can help lay the foundation of truth under your feet as you begin this new journey.
