Before we continue our journey tomorrow, I want to pause with you today. While today is celebrated as Thanksgiving in the United States, the heart behind it reaches far beyond one nation or one holiday. Gratitude is a language every Believer can speak. No matter where we live or what traditions we keep, we all share this truth… every good and perfect gift comes from God and He is worthy of our thanks. Thanksgiving is more than a date on a calendar, it is a posture of the heart that remembers who God is, what He has done, and how faithfully He continues to lead us.
“Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His mercy endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34)
Those who crossed the ocean did not come for riches or recognition. They came because they wanted the freedom to worship the one true God without restraint. They risked everything so they could bow their knees, lift their voices, and honor Jesus openly without fear. Their courage was rooted in conviction, and their journey was fueled by faith.
“Know that the Lord, He is God. It is He who made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:3-4)
Today is a day to remember:
• God has carried us farther than we know
• His mercy has held us through every season
• His purpose for us is still unfolding as we are obedient
And while we give thanks for a nation with freedom, we give even greater thanks for a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.
There is a quote often attributed to William Bradford, a leader among the early Pilgrims, that captures the heart behind their journey:
“All great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and both must be managed and overcome with answerable courage.”
They believed God was worth the cost.
So do we.
As you gather today, whether your table is full or quiet, may this truth settle gently in your spirit:
You are loved.
You are seen.
And God has been good to you, even in the places where you are still waiting.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His faithful love endures forever.” (Psalm 136:1)
Here is a hymn for today. It is a timeless one that reminds us that every good gift flows from His hand and every breath is grace:

May your heart rest, may your spirit breathe, and may gratitude rise like incense before the Lord.
Make today count wherever you are and Happy Thanksgiving.
See you tomorrow.
