~Faith that Finishes~

09.November.2025

Obedience matters. Every choice we make carries weight, shaping the life we live and the legacy we leave. Today we’ll see how faith and trust in God made all the difference for someone who chose to follow Him fully.

Paul did not start well, but he finished well.

He began as Saul, a devout Pharisee who was determined to destroy the church. He describes himself in the New Testament as “a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee” (Philippians 3:5) everything changed when he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus. In Acts 9:4 the Lord spoke to him saying, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” In that moment Saul discovered that Jesus was not dead but resurrected, was alive, aware, speaking, and calling him to a new purpose.

From that moment on, his life belonged completely to Jesus.

Paul lived with a singular focus. He wrote, “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 20:24)

His faith was not passive. He lived his life so selflessly it was as if it was an offering.

Paul endured prison cells, shipwrecks, sleepless nights, hunger, and beatings. In Second Corinthians 11 he lists these hardships, and then he adds, “Besides the other things, what comes upon me daily, my deep concern for all the churches.” His body suffered, but his heart stayed tender.

Near the end of his life, Paul looked back and said with confidence, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have remained faithful.” (2 Timothy 4:7)

He finished because he kept his eyes on the finish line. He endured because he kept his heart anchored in eternal purpose.

Paul understood something vital. The Christian life is not measured by how we begin, but by how we finish. He pressed on, day by day, because his eyes were set on Jesus.

In Philippians 3:14 he writes, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬)

Paul teaches us that faith is not proven by the absence of trials, but by perseverance in the midst of them.

Faith finishes.

Faith keeps going when it would be easier to quit.

Faith says, I will keep trusting Him until I see Him face to face.

Take a few minutes to listen to “My Offering” by Nichole Nordeman, a simple and tender expression of giving every part of our life to Jesus, just as Paul did.

Faithful obedience leaves a lasting legacy. The choices we make today echo into tomorrow, shaping who we are and how God’s story is told through us.

Tomorrow, we will look at Jesus Himself, the One who modeled perfect faith from beginning to end.
