~Faith That Abides~

08.November.2025

Obedience matters. Every choice we make carries weight, shaping the life we live and the legacy we leave. Today we’ll see how faith and trust in God made all the difference for someone who chose to follow Him fully.

When the other disciples ran away in fear, John stayed near the cross. “When Jesus saw His mother standing there beside the disciple He loved, He said to her, ‘Dear woman, here is your son.’ And He said to this disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’” (John 19:26–27) Even in His final moments, Jesus looked at John and entrusted to him the care of His own mother. What a beautiful picture of love, trust, and faithfulness.

John’s faith was not flashy or impulsive. It was steady, rooted, and deeply personal. He understood what it meant to remain close to Jesus. Earlier, he had written about that very truth when Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4)

To abide means to stay, to dwell, to rest. John’s faith teaches us that deep relationship with God isn’t built on striving or grand gestures but on closeness. It is in that closeness that trust grows strong and love becomes the anchor for our soul.

Later in his life, John would write, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” (1 John 4:16) That is what abiding looks like. It is a life centered in love, grounded in trust, and confident in the presence of God.

And when a spirit of fear tries to come in, John reminds us again, “Perfect love casts out fear.” (1 John 4:18) The one who abides in love does not have to fear the future, because love Himself is already there.

It is no surprise that when Jesus allowed only three of His disciples to join Him in some of the most sacred moments, the raising of Jairus’s daughter, the glory of the Transfiguration, and His agony in Gethsemane, John was among them. The one who abided in love was invited into intimacy.

Faith that abides doesn’t demand proof. It simply remains close to the heart of Jesus, listening, trusting, and loving. That kind of faith endures because it has learned that His presence is the greatest treasure of all.

Faithful obedience leaves a lasting legacy. The choices we make today echo into tomorrow, shaping who we are and how God’s story is told through us.

Tomorrow, we’ll meet the Apostle Paul, a man whose faith endured through every trial and finished strong, pressing toward the prize of his heavenly calling.

If you’ve never surrendered to Jesus or have strayed, it’s not too late. He’s waiting to restore and renew you. Return to Him today and say this out loud:

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
