~A Heart That Listens~

10.October.2025

When God looked upon the earth and saw its corruption, He also saw one man whose heart still listened.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. (Genesis 6:9)

In a world like ours, a world Genesis 6:5–9 describes as filled with noise, pride, and unbelief, Noah heard God’s voice, and he didn’t just hear it, he obeyed. What makes his obedience even more remarkable is that he didn’t have what we as New Covenant believers have today, the Holy Spirit living within us. If Noah could trust and obey without that indwelling presence, how much more should we be able to hear and follow God’s voice.

When God told him to build an ark, there was no sign of rain, no clouds on the horizon, and no crowd cheering him on. Still, Noah moved at God’s word. Noah did everything just as God commanded him. (Genesis 6:22)

That’s the quiet strength of obedience. It doesn’t need applause or proof; it simply trusts that God’s word is enough. I recently heard a minister say, “if you don’t believe it before you see it, you’ll never see it.”

Faith-filled obedience rarely makes sense in the moment. It often looks foolish to others and feels costly to us. Yet every act of obedience, no matter how small, makes history in heaven. Noah’s yes preserved life, not just for himself, but for generations to come.

God still looks for hearts like that, hearts that listen even when the world mocks, hearts that keep building even when there’s no sign of rain, hearts that believe His Word will come to pass because they know His character never fails.

Sometimes obedience is simply saying, “God, I don’t understand, but I trust You.” And that kind of faith moves mountains, or in Noah’s case, floats them. 😆

So today, as you face your own unknowns, take a moment to ask, Lord, what are You asking me to build in obedience to You? Maybe it’s trust. Maybe it’s patience. Maybe it’s a step of faith that doesn’t make sense yet. Whatever it is, let your heart respond like Noah’s did, not with hesitation, but with quiet confidence that obedience always leads to life and blessings.

Today’s song to sit with is “Build My Life” by Housefires, is a reminder that every obedient step is a brick laid on the foundation of His love, and that a life built on His Word will always stand firm.

If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, or if you’ve walked away, trying to do life your own way it’s not too late. He’s calling you back. He’s been waiting.

Return to Him today. Surrender your plans, your pain, and your past. He’s ready to restore, renew, and realign you with your divine purpose.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
