~Fear’s Tactics~

06.October.2025

Fear is subtle. It rarely bursts through the front door shouting its name. Instead, it creeps in quietly as a thought, a what if, or a memory replayed in slow motion. Before long, peace begins to fade, confidence wavers, and obedience feels harder than it did a moment ago. Jesus made it plain in John 10:10: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The enemy’s tactics have not changed since the garden. Fear remains one of his sharpest tools, stealing peace, killing joy, and destroying courage. He knows that if he can fill our minds with doubt or intimidation, he can keep us from walking fully in what God has called us to do. Fear does not need to roar; it only needs to whisper, “What if God does not come through this time?” Just as the serpent asked Eve in the garden, “Did God really say?” the enemy still uses the same tactic. His goal is to plant seeds of doubt and make us question what we already know God has spoken.

Recognizing those whispers for what they are is the first step to defeating them. Fear will disguise itself as wisdom, caution, or even responsibility, but underneath the mask, it is the same old lie that questions God’s goodness. Scripture warns us not to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices in 2 Corinthians 2:11. His goal is always the same: to rob us of faith so that we stop moving forward in obedience.

There was a season when I almost let fear keep me from stepping into something God asked me to do. It sounded so practical in my mind: Maybe it is not the right time. It’s too difficult Maybe I heard Him incorrectly or just in my head. But underneath it all was fear. Looking back I recognized it, I realized how much of my peace it had already stolen.

Light exposes what has been lurking in the shadows. When we see fear for what it really is, a tactic of the thief, we stop treating it as truth and begin standing in authority. James 4:7 reminds us, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” That resistance begins in our thoughts, where fear tries to build its case.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to show you where fear might be stealing, killing, or destroying something in your life, your peace, your confidence, your trust, or your obedience. Name it. Bring it into the light. Because once fear is exposed, it loses its power.

Let this be a moment of reclaiming what belongs to you: peace, courage, and the sound mind God promised. And as you consider this, remember this simple truth: when the thief comes, he can only take what we let go of. Hold fast to faith.

As I reflected on this truth, a song from years ago came to mind that still carries power today. Carman’s “Fear Not My Child” echoes the same reassurance Jesus speaks to every believer who feels shaken. It is the Father’s gentle reminder that we are not alone, and that His presence is greater than anything that tries to threaten our peace.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
