~What You Say Matters~

21.September.2025

Words are never just words. They carry weight. We’ve all heard the old adage: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” The truth? Words often wound deeper and linger longer than physical blows. They shape our identity, our confidence, even our faith. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.” With every sentence we speak, we are either building someone up or tearing them down.

James reminds us of this truth with powerful imagery: “The tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!” (James 3:5). He goes on to say that with the same mouth we bless God and curse those made in His image—and that “this should not be so” (James 3:10).

Think about it: long after moments fade, people often remember what was said. A word of encouragement that still fuels their courage years later. A harsh word that still stings. A promise kept, or broken. What we say often outlives us.

That’s why our words matter. They echo. They carry legacy. They shape how people experience us and, more importantly, how they see Christ in us.

Jesus said that one day we will give an account for every careless word we speak (Matthew 12:36). That might sound sobering, but it also means every kind word, every truth spoken in love, every prayer lifted aloud is also remembered. Heaven doesn’t miss a beat.

So, the question becomes: What will your words say about your dash? Will they point people toward hope, faith, and love? Or will they echo with bitterness, criticism, or fear?

Let’s be intentional. Let’s choose words that heal instead of harm, that bless instead of curse, that speak life even in hard places. Because what you say matters.

If people were to repeat the words you’ve spoken most often, what picture of your life would they paint?

Are you known for words that encourage, inspire, and bless, or for words that criticize, complain, or wound?

Lord, help me guard my tongue. Let my words be seasoned with grace, full of truth, and rich with love. Forgive me for careless words that may have hurt others, and teach me to speak in ways that honor You. May my speech leave a legacy of life, not regret.

I value that this song isa reminder that our words hold power to bring life and to change the world around us.

If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, or if you’ve walked away, trying to do life your own way it’s not too late. He’s calling you back. He’s been waiting.

Return to Him today. Surrender your plans, your pain, and your past. He’s ready to restore, renew, and realign you with your divine purpose.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
