Sometimes, when God wakes us up, or keeps us in a quiet moment, He does it so we can hear Him more clearly. During the day, our minds are so active, thinking, and planning, that it can be hard to discern His voice. However, our spirits never sleep.
God often chooses these quiet hours to work on us, to help us become all He created us to be. He brings freedom, conviction, and transformation in ways that daylight distractions can’t. I’ve personally experienced this. He challenged an area of pride in my heart, a part of me I didn’t even want to admit existed, and gently brought me to repentance.
These are the times when His voice can be heard most clearly. When the world is still, and our hearts are quiet, He can speak directly to us, shaping us into the people He intends us to be. It’s a submission of our own hearts: saying yes, being willing to let Him work, even if it’s uncomfortable, even if it interrupts our sleep.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”~Psalm 139:23–24~
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”~Galatians 5:22–23~
“Be still, and know that I am God.”~Psalm 46:10~
Bill and Gloria Gaither’s “Something About That Name” beautifully captures this intimate encounter with Jesus, the peace, the submission, the focus on His name above all else. Listening in the quiet, we can dwell on His presence, His power, and His transforming work in our hearts.

So the next time God interrupts your rest, consider it an invitation: a chance to submit, to pray for yourself, and to allow Him to work on the areas of your heart that you may not even notice in the busyness of your day.
If you’ve never given your life to Jesus, or if you’ve walked away, trying to do life your own way it’s not too late. He’s calling you back. He’s been waiting.
Return to Him today. Surrender your plans, your pain, and your past. He’s ready to restore, renew, and realign you with your divine purpose.
~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
