Some rollercoasters have a way of surprising you. Just when you think you know what’s coming next, the ride stops, sometimes while you’re upside down, suspended midair, waiting for movement. Other times, the car comes to a complete halt and even backs up before it takes off again, almost like it needs a running start before the next loop.
Doesn’t life with God sometimes feel the same way? One moment you’re moving forward full speed, and the next, you feel stalled, stuck in an uncomfortable position, wondering what on earth is happening. Other times it seems like you’ve taken a step backward when all you wanted was to keep moving forward. But what looks like a setback is often preparation. What feels like a stall is still part of the ride.
That’s the beauty of walking with the Lord. Even when we mess up, take a wrong turn, or make a choice outside His best, He doesn’t abandon us. Instead, He gently guides us back on course. Like a GPS that calmly announces, “Recalculating,” the Holy Spirit redirects us, not to shame us, but to lead us safely toward the destination He has in mind.
The difference is that unlike a GPS, the Holy Spirit never makes a wrong calculation. His wisdom is perfect, His timing flawless, and His direction sure. Our part is to quiet ourselves long enough to hear His voice and then choose to follow. He delights in speaking to His children, and He can be trusted to guide us, even when the ride feels uncertain.
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” ~Isaiah 30:21 NKJV~
So today, if you feel like you’re stalled upside down or even backing up, take heart: you are not abandoned. The Author of your faith is still writing your story. He hasn’t lost track of you, and His Spirit is faithfully guiding your next step. Trust Him in the pause. Lean into His whisper. And remember, the ride isn’t over.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5–6 NKJV~
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” ~ Corrie Ten Boom ~

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
