When my youngest daughter rode her first big rollercoaster, she had never been on a smaller one first. Without those smaller rides to prepare her, she had no gradual growth, no foundation to build excitement or confidence. Instead of enjoying the ride, she felt overwhelmed and afraid.
Looking back, I realized it was an unfair miscalculation on my part. In my desire to share with her the joy and thrill I had always experienced, I skipped the necessary steps of growth she needed. What was fun for me became frightening for her, not because she lacked courage, but because she hadn’t been given the chance to build up to it.
And isn’t that so often how faith works? If we leap into things beyond the measure we’ve grown into, it can leave us shaken instead of strengthened. God, in His perfect wisdom, never rushes us like that. He leads us step by step, ride by ride, growing our faith at the pace that prepares us, not overwhelms us—so that when the “big rides” come, we can face them with joy and confidence in Him.
Peter said that clearly:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” ~2 Peter 3:18 NKJV~
Faith that grows steadily becomes unshakable. It develops roots deep enough to withstand storms and boldness strong enough to take the “big rides” God eventually calls us to.
Don’t despise the small steps. Every season of growth, every act of obedience, every whisper of His voice that we choose to follow is preparing us for greater victories ahead.
“And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ~James 1:4 NASB~
“Faith must grow by soil, sunshine, and rain—by testing, trial, and the patience of waiting.” ~John G. Lake~

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
