I recently watched the movie Olympus Has Fallen, and I couldn’t help but see the spiritual parallels. In the movie, the enemy’s mission was clear: infiltrate, destroy, and overthrow leadership from the inside out. It struck me, that’s exactly how the enemy of our souls works.
Jesus said it plainly, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” ~John 10:10 NKJV~
When Jesus died and rose again, He stripped Satan of all power and authority over those who belong to Him.
“Having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” ~Colossians 2:15~
So, if Satan’s authority has been removed, why does he still seem to wreak havoc? Because he operates through deception, targeting our minds, hearts and emotions.
From the very beginning, in the Garden of Eden, his tactic was to question God’s Word and God’s character: “Did God really say…?” ~Genesis 3:1~
He still does the same today by manipulating us to question God’s Word: “Is that really true? Is that promise for you?” And to question our identity, “Are you really a child of God? Are you sure He’s with you?”
Once the enemy breached the inside, outside attacks were more effective. That’s how Satan works. If he can get past your spiritual defenses, if you let lies settle in your mind and then into your heart, the outside pressures and trials will hit harder.
This is why we’re told to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” ~2 Corinthians 10:5~
Our mind is the battleground, but we have God’s Word, His Spirit, and the authority of Jesus to guard it.
And make no mistake, the enemy hates you, hates me, and hates all of humanity. He will stop at nothing to destroy us. When we struggle with thoughts or emotions that lead to defeat, we must remember: this is a spiritual battle, and he is doing everything he can to drag us to hell. That’s what it’s all about. So buck up, buttercup…take up your sword and fight!
Your security system for believers:
- The Word of God — Your sword and shield against lies. ~Ephesians 6:17~
- Prayer — Staying in constant communication with the Commander-in-Chief. ~Philippians 4:6-7~
- Worship — Shifting your focus to the greatness of God over the threats of the enemy. ~Psalm 149:6~
- Identity in Christ — Knowing who you are keeps you from falling for counterfeit voices. ~1 Peter 2:9~
The enemy’s plan is intimidation and infiltration, but God’s plan for you is victory and freedom. Stay on guard, keep your spiritual armor on, and remember, the One inside you is greater than anything that comes against you. ~1 John 4:4~

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
