Day 3: Come with a Humble and Repentant Heart

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” ~Psalm 51:17 ESV~

God doesn’t respond to pride. He resists it. But humility—that soft, repentant heart, moves Him deeply. A broken heart before the Lord isn’t weakness—it’s surrender. When we come before Him humble and honest, He draws near.

David, the man after God’s own heart, knew this. After his most public failure, he didn’t try to hide. He didn’t offer excuses. He offered his heart. His broken, repentant, contrite heart. And God received it…a man after God’s own heart.

Repentance isn’t a punishment. It’s a gift, a path back into intimacy. It clears the fog and restores the joy of our salvation. When we come humble and repentant, God lifts us up. When we say, “I was wrong,” God says, “Let Me restore you.”

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” ~James 4:6 ESV~

We don’t have to fear coming to Him when we do wrong or sin. What we should fear is pretending we don’t need Him.

“By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.”
‭‭~Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬~

Lord, I come before You with humility. I lay down pride, excuses, and pretending. I need You. I repent of anything that has taken me away from closeness with You. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me.

Is there a place in your heart today where He’s gently inviting you to yield more fully? Sometimes the whisper of the Holy Spirit isn’t loud—it’s tender, patient, waiting for us to stop justifying what we know He’s asking us to lay down. What if today is the day to simply say yes, to surrender what we’ve been holding back, and trust that His way is better?

If you’ve never given your life to Jesus— or if you’ve walked away, trying to do life your own way-it’s not too late. He’s calling you back. He’s been waiting.

Return to Him today. Surrender your plans, your pain, and your past. He’s ready to restore, renew, and realign you with your divine purpose.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
