“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place… And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” —Esther 4:14
G.D. Watson once wrote a thought provoking phrase: “Others may, you may not.”
Depending on your calling, God may require you to walk differently, more narrowly, more intentionally. It’s not legalism, it’s consecration.
We don’t get to shape our lives based on someone else’s freedoms. Just because they can doesn’t mean you should. Just because it works for them doesn’t mean it’s what God wants for you. You’ll stand before God alone. No one else will be answering for your decisions, your obedience, or your silence.
Sobering, isn’t it?
“Why did we choose to compromise? Why did we stay silent? Why did we blend in when we were called to stand out?”
Often, the answer is a desire to be politically correct, to avoid offense, or to maintain comfort. However, the call is to Bible correctness, not social approval.
The truth is, what you don’t know can hurt you. Hosea 4:6 says: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
There are people saying and doing things that aren’t right. They aren’t our standard. The Word is. Even if you’ve made mistakes, God still wants to use you.
That’s what Lester Sumrall learned when he tried to shrink back from his calling: “I told God to get someone else to do it, and God said, ‘There is no one else.’”
This wasn’t arrogance. It was a revelation: some assignments are tailor-made. If you walk away, the cost is real, because you were chosen. It mirrors Moses in Exodus 4:13:“Lord, please! Send anyone else!”
And Mordecai’s charge to Esther: “Who knows if you were born for such a time as this?”

Where have you tried to opt out or compare your obedience to someone else’s? Ask God for the grace to walk your unique path with full surrender.
If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.
~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
