~ Truth or Performance ~

05.June.2025

In Acts 5, Ananias and Sapphira sell a piece of property. They pretend to donate the full amount to the church, but secretly keep a portion for themselves. While appearing generous and fully surrendered, they were dishonest in their hearts.

Peter confronts Ananias:

“He brought part of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount.

With his wife’s consent, he kept the rest.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself.” Acts 5:2-3 NLT

Why did God strike down a New Testament believer for sin? This moment wasn’t about the money, it was about being fake in the presence of God. Ananias and Sapphira weren’t judged for giving less but for pretending to give all. They presented themselves as fully surrendered, but their hearts told another story.

As believers, especially as leaders, the standard for integrity is higher. God takes the example we set seriously.

Today, many assume that God’s grace gives us a free pass when we fall short. But that’s far from the truth. Grace doesn’t excuse sin, it empowers us to live holy and honest lives before Him.

God isn’t looking for appearances. He’s looking for the Truth. He is not only loving, He is holy.

If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
