We all long to walk in the power and authority of Jesus, but authority doesn’t come without surrender. In the Kingdom of God, the path to reigning always begins with yielding.
“Then he said to the crowd, ‘If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.’” Luke 9:23 (NLT)
Jesus didn’t sugarcoat the call to discipleship. It costs us everything, but in return, He gives us everything, His righteousness, His power, His Spirit, and yes, His authority. We trade our limited strength for His limitless grace, strength, and power. But the crown is not given to the comfortable. It’s reserved for those who lay down their lives in complete surrender.
“The cross comes before the crown.” C.S. Lewis
There was no shortcut through Gethsemane for Jesus. No detour around the cross. The authority to rule in life with Jesus, over fear, sin, and the enemy, flows only through the surrendered heart.
Surrender precedes authority.
To wear the crown, we must first surrender to Him.
Let this truth settle in: You were made to reign, but first, to surrender.
As you reflect today, remember: the One who calls you to follow also empowers you to obey. And what He places in your hands is far greater than anything you lay down, trust me, I know.
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 NLT
If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.
~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
