Before you can set a table for a meal, you first have to clear it. Anything that doesn’t belong must be removed to make room for what’s needed. The same is true in our lives. As we move forward, whatever day it is for you, know this: the things of your past do not belong at today’s table.
Scripture encourages us to let go of the former things. “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing…” (Isaiah 43:18–19, NKJV). We are also reminded that “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7, NKJV). The thoughts we allow to linger in our hearts shape our identity, but when we step into our new life in Christ, we are given a beautiful opportunity: to choose freedom over familiarity, faith over fear, and the future over the past.
Yes, letting go isn’t always easy. There are moments when the old tries to creep back in. But remember, those things no longer define you. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV). That’s not just encouragement, it’s identity. That’s who you are now.
It’s also good to remember that “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape…” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV). Anything you’re facing today, you are not facing alone. His strength is working in you, through you, and for you.
As this new week begins, take a deep breath. Set the table of your life with expectation. “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins… new wine must be put into fresh wineskins” (Luke 5:37–38, ESV). Prepare your heart. Make room for what God wants to pour into your life.
You’re not who you were. You’re who He says you are.

If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.
~ Dear Heavenly Father ~
Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
