~ God’s Love is a Refuge ~

“How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.” ~ Psalm 36:7 (NKJV) ~

There’s something so comforting about that word picture of being under His wings. Safe. Covered. Protected. I don’t know about you, but sometimes life feels way too complicated to handle on my own. But then I remember, I don’t have to. We don’t have to. God invites us into this place of trust that isn’t just surface-level, it’s deep, steady, and real.

This verse reminds us that His love is something we must build our lives on. Not just when things are falling apart, but every single day. It’s that simple confidence, not the kind that pretends everything is fine, but the kind that knows even when things aren’t fine, God still is. His lovingkindness is something we can fully rest in.

I’ve noticed this: that kind of trust doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from a diligent connection. Not just praying on the go (though that’s good too), but actually starting the day with Him. Before the texts, before the emails, before the noise. Just being still. Quiet. Reading His Word (remember Jesus is His Word). Letting my heart settle into His presence. I’ve learned that listening for His voice in the quiet helps me recognize it throughout the day.

Psalm 91:1–2 says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’” That’s what I want to dwell, not just visit. To actually live in His presence.

When I start my day like that, it changes everything. It doesn’t mean the day is perfect, but I’m more anchored. I can catch wrong thoughts quicker, speak more kindly, and make better choices. Not because I’m trying to be “good,” but because I’m always aware of Him. His peace and presence affect how I respond to everything else.

So if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or scattered, maybe just take a little time to sit with Him in the morning. No pressure, just you and Him. Read a Psalm. Breathe. Let Him speak to you. And then, throughout your day, remember you’re under His wings. You’re not alone. And the more we live from that place, the more our confidence in Him grows, rich, strong, and full of peace.

“When everything else fails, God’s love remains a hiding place.”

If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.

~ Dear Heavenly Father ~

Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the Cross just for me. I admit that I have sinned, and I repent. I ask You to forgive me. I believe that He died and rose again. Right now, I make Him the Lord of my life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. My sins are washed away, my past is forgiven, and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
