~ Am I Giving the Devil a Foothold? ~

29.April.2025

“Be angry, and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”
Ephesians 4:26–27 (KJV)

In the original Greek, the word for “place” is topos//meaning a spot, opportunity, or territory. In other words, when we allow anger to go unchecked, we give the enemy a foothold, access he should never have.

Unresolved anger often leads to bitterness, resentment, and even rage. When we choose to harbor these emotions or fail to address them in a godly way, we open the door to the enemy to influence in our lives. This is why Scripture urges us to guard our hearts diligently.

There are many negative attitudes, habits, and thought patterns that can create space for the enemy, fear, offense, unforgiveness, envy, and more. That’s why it’s so Important to guard what we allow into our hearts and minds. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can learn to guard our “eye gates” and “ear gates,” what we watch, listen to, and dwell on, making sure that these gates stay aligned with God’s truth remaining connected with Him.

As Deuteronomy 30:19 reminds us, we must choose. Every day, and sometimes every moment, we must decide what we will allow that could take root in us. When a thought arises that doesn’t align with God’s Word, we can respond with spiritual authority:
“No, I do not take that thought, I will no longer put my mind on that thought!”

And if that thought tries to pass through, we go further and say: “No! I will not speak that thought! I will not put my mouth on it!”

2 Corinthians 10:5 exhorts us that “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” And Jesus reinforces this in Matthew 6:31 (KJV): “Therefore take no thought, saying…”—a reminder that thoughts often become words, and words can shape our lives. So when a worry, fear, or lie comes, let’s choose not to accept it, not to speak it, and certainly not to live by it.

Let’s practice this together today, asking the Holy Spirit to help us stay more aware of Him than ever before, choosing truth over lies, peace over strife, and trust over fear.

Shut De Do – No Mo Do See Do

If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I admit that I have sinned and need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior and invite Him into my heart. My past is forgiven, sins are washed away and my future is bright. Thank you for saving me.

In Jesus’ Name Amen.

Make today count and see you tomorrow.
