Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.
Do You Use Social Media—Or Does It Use You?
It’s surprisingly easy to get pulled in. Social media is designed to trigger rapid and powerful dopamine releases—the same neurotransmitter linked to pleasure and motivation. These surges activate reward pathways in the brain similar to those affected by drugs or gambling, which can lead to addictive patterns of behavior.
If you want a published study, here is that:
I’ve taken breaks and even fasts from social media in the past. I knew it had a grip on me, but I wasn’t sure how to break free.
Eventually, I deactivated my accounts, nearly two years ago. At first, they remained accessible if I simply logged back in. But over time, the pull faded, and deleting them became a clear, easy decision. I had grown to value my freedom far more than the fleeting internal buzz it used to give me.
If you’re on social media, I challenge you to lay it before the Father in submission. Ask yourself honestly: Do I use it for enjoyment, or does it have control over me?
If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.
Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior and invite Him into my heart. Thank you for saving me. Amen.
Make today count and see you tomorrow.
