What place in the world do you never want to visit? Why?

Today might be a little longer, grab a beverage, possibly some tissues and know that I have deep love for and I’m sharing what’s on my heart today.

My response may surprise you, perhaps it won’t.

Hell! I never ever ever want to see hell.

We have read it, heard it and said it. Jesus went to hell for us. He went to hell and paid our price. But what does that really mean? For the past few weeks I’ve been considering deep in my heart the revelation that He went to hell, spent three days according to Scripture. I challenge you to say that out loud: Jesus went to hell for three days—for me!

“There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 13:41–42)
“This is the second death, the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14–15)
“And he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace…” (Revelation 9:1–2)
“…where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:48)
“They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might.” (2 Thessalonians 1:9)“There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth;” (Matthew 13:41-42) “This is the second death, the lake of fire;” (Revelation 20:14-15) “And he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace…” (Revelation 9:1-2) ”…where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.” (Mark 9:48) “They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.” (Thessalonians 1:9)

Allow me to be abundantly clear: hell was created by God for the devil and his angels according to Matthew 25:41 and Revelation 20, not for humans!

Hell is described as conscious torment with sensory language, a place of justice to those who rejected God’s offer for salvation. The most severe punishment is being cut off from God’s presence for all of eternity!

Back to my point: Jesus experienced all of hell for three days, forfeiting the intimate relationship He had always known with the Father, knowing that His temporary separation from the Father would provide a permanent way for all of humanity to choose Him eternally, rather than face an irreversible and complete separation from God’s presence.

He did that for me, and He did that for you if are a believer.

If you have not committed your life to Jesus, or you have walked away from Him doing your own thing, I invite you to come back to Him today.

Say this prayer:

Heavenly Father, I admit that I have sinned and need forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose from the dead. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior and invite Him into my heart. Thank you for saving me. Amen.
