Absolutely nothing! A gift is just that—a gift. There’s nothing you can do to earn it; all you can do is receive it.

God’s love is the same way. Was it our idea for Him to love us? Not at all, it was His idea (John 3:15–16). Does His love for us have anything to do with what we’ve done or who we are? No. And while we may not always feel His love, the Bible doesn’t promise feelings, it tells us to receive His love by faith (Ephesians 2:8).

He loved you first. God’s love is a gift. All you have to do is receive it.
